The Tiger’s Apprentice: a Good Program for you and the Family! | Review by Allison Costa

As a mom of seven children, who still likes to institute a “Family move night”, it can be really hard these days to find entertainment that is suitable for preschoolers all the way through to teenagers.  Even with countless streaming services and tons of new shows and movies, many of the movies are either too “babyish” for older kids or too “mature” for younger kids.  And almost everything seems to push an agenda these days, when all we want is to just be entertained!  Told a fantastical story with good characters and a great plotline.  So when we stumble onto something that checks all of our boxes, I am more than happy to share.  “The Tiger’s Apprentice” is a new animated film on Paramount Plus that came out very recently–The week before the Chinese New Year actually.  It was great to see a cartoon film that wasn’t too baby or too mature and that appeals to several different age groups.  There are funny characters, a decent plotline, great animation and even fight scenes that are cool but not over the top violent (for little viewers!).  And above all, it seems to stay true to the category of Fantasy while also having one foot in the real world in its reference to Zodiac signs and symbols and their meaning.

This film definitely didn’t “wow” us in the same way that the recent rendition of the new “Willy Wonka” did, but it was a great little movie to stream for. movie night at home without having to worry if it was going to be awful or inappropriate. Even the world of children’s entertainment has taken an interesting spin lately where you are never quite sure if the movie will actually be any good as there are SO many cartoon films constantly coming out. Sad to say most of the animated films that head straight to streaming are crap.  “The Tiger’s Apprentice” had a good storyline that was not overly complicated but also had a few little surprises.  If you are looking for something with action for the whole family that is also cute and funny, then definitely check it out!
