The Letter to the King; Review by Allison Costa

Netflix has been debuting new series like wildfire lately.  Just in time for a Pandemic that has all of us trapped at home with some much needed entertainment to take our minds off of all of the unknown happening in our world.  But with so much to watch and so many new shows premiering, what is worth spending your time on?  ‘The Letter to the King” is definitely a show you should check out!  Especially if you are a true nerd and like anything that has to do with fantasy, quests, humor, adventure, coming of age and heroes!  Plus, as a bonus, for those of us with children, it is a clean show! So many new shows on Netflix are NOT family shows and NOT appropriate for families, which can be disappointing.  Although this show is for older children(there are a few scenes not for little children), it is still a great adventure series for older children and teenagers.  Furthermore, although it can often be a risk to take on a new show with younger, inexperienced actors, this ensemble has a fairly good chemistry and is almost instantly likable.

I am not often surprised in series, but there are also some really fun plot twists and surprises that I did not see coming!  What you think will be the same old story, actually changes and makes the series that much better!  The scenery where this show is shot is absolutely breathtaking as well.  Another thing that I loved as well, is that the series almost instantly jumps into the plot and the action, and explains factors along the way.  Many action series take several episodes to set up backstory, which can kind of make the show lag, before they jump into the action part of the series.  Because “The Letter to the King” is only 6 episodes long, they get into the meat of the story fairly quickly.  If you are looking for a good, medieval action show that is a little more wholesome, then this show will be perfect for your family.  Especially during this difficult time!  So grab a blanket, and some popcorn, snuggle up with your family and jump into this great series!
