As its acclaimed debut season nears its end, Pedro Pascal has shared a cryptic The Last of Us season 2 filming update. Based on the Naughty Dog game of the same name, the post-apocalyptic series quickly became one of HBO’s biggest hits upon its premiere, becoming the second-biggest launch for any show since 2010 and garnering near-universal acclaim. This success led to an early The Last of Us season 2 renewal, and audiences may not have to wait too long to see the next chapter of the series.

While speaking with Collider to discuss The Mandalorian season 3, Pedro Pascal looked to the future to discuss The Last of Us season 2. When asked for a season 2 filming update, namely whether production would kick off in 2023, the Joel actor offered a playful response, pondering what season of the year it currently is. Pascal did offer a more cryptic bit of confirmation, saying that “there is a chance” that The Last of Us season 2 could begin filming later this year.
