Tales From The Loop Review | Julie Jones

With the world in the state it’s in, it’s nice to have something you can get lost in. All of the shows that are available means that you will never run out of options. But, that doesn’t mean that they’re all good. And it means that you want to find better shows because you have more time to pay attention to them and get lost in their stories.

Tales From the Loop is a series based on an art book by a Swedish artist. The stories are related, but there isn’t anything concrete that tells you how much time passes in between or the relation between episodes. However, you get the sense of one episode happening before the next and a general chronological order. The stories tend to have a sci-fi element to them and a sense of mystery.

The aesthetic of this series is pretty interesting. It is a European style that somewhat resembles the art it is derived from. It is a clean and somewhat stark aesthetic that you don’t really see in film or television on this side of the pond. I found it to be something that had a wintery feel and contributed to the weight of the show. Even the lighter moments still seem to have a lingering heavy air to them that just seems brighter.

The writing of the plot is something that I really enjoyed. I thought it was thoughtful and innovative. While it wasn’t anything that will change the world, it was innovative in that it is different from what we currently see out. I think that it is something that makes you feel lonely and a little sad, but not depressed or overly heavy.

The cinematography was good, it really seemed to capture the essence of the art the show is based on. It isn’t anything that you haven’t seen before. But, if you have seen the art you will notice certain aspects that are reminiscent.

The acting in the show isn’t anything exceptional. And neither is the direction. They are pretty much on the same level as most shows out there now.

Overall, I thought it was a great show. It was interesting and something that I enjoyed watching. But, I would suggest watching it when you are in good spirits. It makes you feel a bit lonely and it has a bit of weight to it, so watching it when you aren’t in a great place can really bring you down. I thought on a scale of one to ten it was a solid eight.
