SONY TAKING PUBLIC PITCHES FOR ITS NEXT PLAYSTATION TV SHOWS

(Via IGN.com) Sony is now taking public pitches for potential new PlayStation TV shows.

GamesIndustry.biz reports that the US arm of Sony Interactive Entertainment has launched a new initiative, called the PlayStation Emerging Filmmakers Program, which will let writers and filmmakers pitch their ideas for a new series directly to Sony. You can submit your idea here.

These don’t need to be based on PlayStation licenses, rather winning entries will be shown to a PlayStation-owning audience.

Pitches will be taken until August 1 before Sony whittles them down to ten concepts. A panel of PlayStation and film industry professionals will then pick five ideas to be produced as pilot episodes

The PlayStation community will then be able to watch these five pilots, and should any of the episodes be a hit the next step would be to produce an entire show. The series would presumably be exclusive to the PlayStation Network.

Sony’s last PlayStation exclusive TV show was the superhero-themed comics series Powers, which was recently canceled after two seasons. The company is also working on a Sly Cooper animated series with Technicolor.
