Project Blue Book (Episode 1) Review by Marcus Blake | Interview with Michael Malarkey, Laura Mennell, and David O’Leary

Are you ready for the next great TV series about UFOs. You should be. After all, it’s been a while since we’ve had a really good X-Files like show. And this one is actually based off of real events. Project Blue Book stars Aidan Gillen and Michael Malarkey. It’s about the Air Force investigations into UFO’S which was called Project Blue Book.

Aiden Gillen stars as astrophysicist Joseph Allen Hynek and Michael Malarkey plays an Air Force pilot who is teaming together we start investigating unexplained phenomenon. With only having watched the first episode, I immediately got the sense this was the next X-Files with the same Eerie feeling about Shadow governments and cover-ups. You have the scientists trying to debunk everything and the skeptic you can’t help but start to believe. I will go ahead and say that I love the first episode and can’t wait to watch the rest of the series. It immediately throws you into the first UFO case and the first government cover-up. Plus, this show has a really good cast including Laura Mennell who plays Mrs. Hynek and immediately gets sucked up into a conspiracy with the government watching her.

This is a great period piece. You feel like you’re in the 1950s, but it’s also a little bit dark and dreary to match the bigger conspiracy that our characters will be wrapped up in. I think what’s going to make this series grate is you automatically get the sense that Dr. Hyneck doesn’t want to believe anything but can’t ignore the facts as a scientist and really does become the ufologist and he is known for while Michael Malarkey is too much of the straight-laced Air Force pilot and always has some rationale for what happens. But you quickly start to see that everything they once believed in might be false especially their  trust in the government. I mean, if there’s ever a show that embodies the phrase the truth is out there since the X-Files it will be Project Blue Book.

I have a good feeling about this series and it’s one of the series and I am really excited for. Plus, it’s nice to have Aiden Gillian playing hey character that you’re rooting for instead of wanting to die as in the case of little finger from Game of Thrones. If I have to give the first episode a grade, then it’s definitely a 9 and it has me intrigued. Plus, I think what will make this show great is you’ll actually get to see the investigation of real cases from Project Blue Book… the kind of history that you just don’t hear about.
