Mye Hoang Interview for the film “Cat Daddies” | THAT NERD SHOW INTERVIEW SERIES

Review By Marcus Blake

Are you a Cat Daddy? Are you a man who loves cats, it’s okay to admit if you do. Cats have their own special place in the world and are also great support animals. This is one of our favorite documentaries of the year, Cat Daddies directed by Mye Hoang. It is a wonderful and beautiful film about men who love cats and how a relationship with a special feline can improve and sometimes save your life. We don’t often think about men really loving cats because the age-old stereotype is men love dogs and women love cats. But that’s not necessarily true as shown in this great documentary. Every story in the film is unique and poetic, and it will tug on those emotional strings just as much as any film about a dog. I have to admit pleasantly surprised about how much I really love this film. I don’t consider myself a cat person even though I rescued one, but I guess in a lot of ways I too am a cat daddy. I am happy to call myself one. But this film wasn’t so much about how great cats can be, but about the relationships and bonds that people can have with cats, how they can be dressed as important as a relationship with a dog.

Men who love cats come from all walks of life. They are Truckers, firemen, actors, and even someone homeless. This film tells their unique stories and how they bonded with a cat or many cats. It’s easy to connect to all the people who were featured in this film because their stories are the same stories for anyone who’s ever connected with an animal, especially a cat. Great documentaries tell interesting and unique stories. Cat Daddy’s definitely hits the mark because it shows us a different point of view that we could relate to. The film may not win an Oscar, but it’s worth the Oscar votes, it certainly got my vote. But I think the importance of this film is to show us how much of a difference a relationship with a cat can make in our lives. Cats are just as important as dogs, especially with the relationships they have with humans. This is a truly beautiful and fantastic film that everybody should watch. Even if you don’t consider yourself a cat person, you can’t help but be touched by the people in this film who love cats and the relationships they have with their cats which make their lives better. Mye Hoang knocked it out of the park with Cat Daddies and it’s the kind of film that can make anybody fall in love with cats.
