“Glitch Techs:” a Netflix Show to Check Out | Season 1 Review by Talise Saunooke

Raise your hand if you like video games. I know I do. If you raised your hand,  the new kid’s show called “Glitch Techs” on Netflix is (probably) the perfect fit. This series is filled with gaming easter eggs and references to just about every video game imaginable. As someone who loves gaming in general, I found this series perfectly relatable and engaging. The main characters were laugh-out-loud funny and well-written. Their jokes were always relevant, and I will admit I liked one or two of their puns. I especially loved all of the blatant video game rip-offs, which included everything from Pac-Man and Tetris, to Pokemon and Castlevania.

The plot was also very interesting, and though I found it somewhat predictable, I was still intrigued. There were a couple of twists I wasn’t expecting, but I’m not giving out any free spoilers here. The gaming theme worked especially well for this show, appealing to its wide target audience: pre-teens and teenagers. A gaming-based show almost automatically becomes relatable to 12-year-olds and 15-year-olds alike, simply because it has a root in this relatively new and popular field of entertainment. All in all, “Glitch Techs” is a show that is definitely worth watching. I enjoyed every bit of it and I wholly recommend it to anyone who is into gaming, regardless of whether or not you’re a minor. The plot was well-developed, but easily anticipated (just like the plot of any Mario game), the characters were funny, and the video game theme worked well for it. It’s not often I find a show I love, but “Glitch Techs” ended up being one of them.
