Blindspot Season Premiere: Sorry Jane’s not home right now. Remi is back! Review By Allison Costa

Since the conception of Blindspot we have seen Jane struggle to find out who she is.  Her memory erased, she went on to form new friendships, new relationships and new allegiances.  Her bond with her team at the FBI became incredibly close knit.  So much so that she not only went on to turn against her mother, her brother and their previous organization Sand Storm, but that she and Kurt–her partner and quasi boss–become romantically involved and get married.  Despite many, many ups and downs, and their having to be apart and go through terribly endeavors–one thing is sure, they always have each other!  Until Now.

In a strange turn of events, last season ended with not only one, but two massive changes for our team.  Jane finds out that she is suffering from “zip poisoning” and not only is she slowly dying, but her condition causes her to pass out and when she comes to again, she is not Jane anymore.  She is Remy.  Just as Jane remembered nothing of Remy’s life or allegiances when she first came to the FBI, Remy remembers nothing of Jane’s life or her experiences.  She still hates the FBI and everyone she works with.  Only later does she learn that Sand storm has been destroyed, her brother is dead and her mother is in prison.  And she hates her team terribly.  She is absolutely determined to destroy them from the inside.

The second huge betrayal comes from Zapata.  She completely turns on the team, which they still don’t realize and we still don’t know why.  After being fired from the CIA for leaking information–which she claims to have only done under orders–she has no where to go.  No job left at the CIA or the FBI.  After a romantic interlude with Reed, she vanishes unexpectedly.  We saw her fly off with the enemy at the end of last season plotting against the FBI.  This season opens with her trying to take over the former criminal enterprise with Roman’s ex-girlfriend.  In a surprising turn of events another member of the board potions all of the board members, including Zapata’s protege, and they all die.  Leaving Zapata alone with the new CEO of the criminal organization.  Why Zapata has decided to turn to a life of crime and leave her friends behind, we have no clue.

But starting the season with an evil Jane (Remy) and then an evil Zapata?  The strength of their team lies in all of them, and now they are down to just three.  How long will it take them to figure out that Jane is not Jane?  And that Zapata has gone rogue?  We have no idea.  But I pray it happens quickly and doesn’t drag on.  The action is what makes this show so compelling and you can’t have decent action if you don’t have a decent storyline.
