Blindspot Season 2 Premiere by Allison Costa

Well if the Season premiere of “Blindspot” was any indication what Season 2 will be like, then we are in for one heck of a ride! Last season was mainly focused on Jane trying to figure out who she was, and playing both sides of the FBI and the mystery organization she was working for. That all ended very badly as Mayfair(her boss) was killed, Jane killed Oscar (her ex) and then was taken in by Weller once he realized she was not Taylor Shaw.

This season starts off with showing us that Jane has been held in a CIA black center for the past 3 months and tortured. She finally escapes and it turns out the NSA want her to help them infiltrate the terrorist group she was previously working with. They hope that her love and loyalty for her former FBI team and her guilt over getting Mayfair killed will be enough to motivate her. Although the relationships between their once tight knit team are obviously strained and the trust has been broken—they all want the same thing. To bring down this elusive terrorist organization that has cost them so much.

So Jane goes down the Rabbit hole once again, going so far as to have herself shot to sell her story that she was kidnapped and tortured by one of her former team members—the same rogue member that she set up for murdering Oscar (her ex-fiancee), even though Jane is the one that really killed him. Jane is finally able to meet the person behind it all except with one big plot twist….it is her mother. Sounds like straight out of a soap opera or telenovella!

I have compared Blindspot to Alias previously, but the familial connection, (if you don’t know the Sydney Bristow/evil mother reference I am making here, then you should really go back and stream Alias!!!) ties Jane and Sydney Bristow’s characters together even more. Except this time Jane has an adopted brother she doesn’t remember, while for Sydney it was a sister.

The addition of Luke Mitchell (who plays Jane’s brother) and Archie Panjabi (who plays the NSA liason) are both excellent choices. Luke Mitchell was previously in the cancelled show “The Tomorrow People”, as well as Daisy’s tragic love interest in “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”, while Panjabi is best known for here tough girl/private investigator role on “The Good Wife”.

Both actors are a great addition to this suspenseful and action packed show.   This season Jane is still a mole, just this time the FBI knows it. Will her relationships be repaired? What does her adoptive mother have planned? And why is Jane at the center of it all? It will be interesting to see where Season 2 takes us!
