Well the actor has been teasing Shazam for some time, has been in talks to play either Shazam or Black Adam over a period of several years as the project floated through various stages of development, and certainly has mentioned deciding between the two characters recently, but today it’s official: Dwayne “The Rock”Johnson is set to play Black Adam.

Variety reports that that Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After, Jack the Giant Slayer) will write the script with Johnson playing  Black Adam, “who in recent issues of the DC comicbook, is more of an anti-hero trying to clear his name than a villain.”

So that’s one film revealed in Warner Brother’s big upcoming slate. The studio had several DC movie domain names purchased for some time, Shazam being one of them. Of course, we should note that the official title of the film hasn’t been announced yet.
