Tulsa King has been one of the surprise hits in the Taylor Sheridan universe. Stirring Sylvester Stallone as a Mafia capo who spent 25 years in prison and when he gets out is relegated to the Tulsa Oklahoma territory of the organization. Not only has this been one of Sylvester Stallone’s best performances, but I would even go as far as to say that it brings up there with Rambo and Rocky, this has been one of the best mob stories ever written. We tend to think of most mob stories happening in New York or Chicago so it’s a big departure when we see that kind of a story in a southern town like Tulsa. However, it works as an old-school mafia guy who deals with weed farms, southern-style nightclubs, and gambling and brings a certain toughness to the South that we usually don’t see except with Cowboys. I love season 1 and it’s a great way to introduce the character, but season 2 elevates the show to new heights. Season 2 of Tulsa King is now on Blu-ray, released on March 18th 2025, and here’s why you should buy it….
If you’ve enjoyed Tulsa King, both season 1 and 2, then this is a must-have collector’s item when it comes to physical media. Yes, it’s easy to stream shows like this on Paramount + but there’s something special about having physical discs that you can still pop in a Blu-ray player. What you don’t get with streaming a show like this is all the extras. The documentaries on how the show was made and interviews with the cast are just as fun to watch. The blu-ray edition is superb quality and will look great on any 4K TV, while the bonus features make this set worth buying. And one thing I always love to remind people when it comes to physical media, if the internet goes out, you can still watch a Blu-ray disc.
But I absolutely love this show and Sylvester Stallone as he builds a criminal Empire in Tulsa. The great thing about his character is he is very sympathetic and you can’t help but root for him in his endeavors especially when he is set up by the ATF and has to defend himself in a court of law in season 2. That episode alone makes buying the Blu-ray worth it. And I bet that after you watch season 2, just like me, you can’t wait for season 3 which is in production right now!
