I remember when the first season of The Boys came out and I thought it was great! It was nice to see a show that showed more realistic heroes and how they might function in the real world. I thought all the characters seemed flawed and interesting. When the second season came, I thought it wasn’t as good as the first one, and I hate to say it, I lost interest. So, when I heard the third one was coming, I couldn’t help but wonder if the second season was a fluke or the new standard for the show.
The third season picks up right after the second season, keeping up with all the characters you know and love. While there were some unanswered questions in the second season, the third season not only wraps them all up. But answers more. You still get to see Homelander act like the entitled brat man-child that we all love to hate, but there are new problems that arise. There is no shortage of underlying stories to follow and keep you occupied if one of them bothers or bores you. If you didn’t like the second season, you’ll be happy to know that the third season feels more like the first did.
There isn’t really anything new as far as acting, direction, cinematography, etc. It’s the same as it’s always been. However, I thought the first season had a better story overall and I think that was where the second season lacked. This season they are a bit more on track and it feels like they fixed whatever the glitch was in season 2. However, Season 3 does introduce more characters including Soldier Boy who has a big secret of his own. His storyline definitely adds more layers to The Boys overall story in Season 3. But I won’t spoil anything. Fans are certainly in for some big surprises especially with Billy Butcher getting superpowers for a like a day. It will make things very interesting for the group trying to bring down Homelander and new problems will arise.
Overall, I thought this season was good. It’s a good start to getting back to the show we all fell in love with and I think it’s definitely worth a watch.
Don’t worry, it doesn’t suck as much as the second season did and it’s much more like the first one. The Boys are getting back to it’s roots and with more characters and added storylines, season 3 does not disappoint. By the time you get to the end, you will yearn for season 4, which is a no-brainer for Amazon Studios to make. The Boys is one of the better shows on Prime. I would give it an 8 ½ , but we don’t do that here…so, 8. It’s not a 9. And, just a heads up, if you were as excited as I was to see Charlize Theron would be in it; keep it in your pants. She has five minutes in the first episode and then never again. Lame.
