The opening night film is a fantastic documentary called Street Smart: Lessons from a TV Icon. The film traces The journey of Sonia Manzani, better known as Marie on Sesame Street. She became the first Latina on American TV and a regular reoccurring role. Oak Cliff has always featured some of the best documentaries that are must-see films and this one is no exception. Also on opening night in the upstairs theater is a spotlight film called OBEX which is about a guy who starts playing a new study of the art computer game and get so engrossed that reality between the game in real life becomes a blur. Some of the most anticipated films at Oak Cliff are the documentary, Age of Audio, directed by Shaun Michael Colon about the rise of Podcasting. From origin stories to corporate podcasts, the director interviews some of the most influential artist in podcasting while asking the question, how do you keep authenticity on the air. We’ve interviewed the director multiple times over the last decade and are very excited to see this 8-year project finally come together and be shown at the Oak Cliff Film.
