Harry Potter alumna Imelda Staunton has returned to the franchise to reprise her role as the villainous Dolores Umbridge in Universal’s “Ministry of Magic” theme park ride.
A new promotional video for the upcoming attraction gives a glimpse of Staunton’s character as the senior British Ministry of Magic bureaucrat for “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic” ride, which is opening at the Universal Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, FL in 2025. The clip, which you can see below, takes guests through the British Ministry of Magic for Umbridge’s trial.
“For the first time, guests will walk through the Floo Passage and see the Ministry of Magic at its full scale, full glory, full glamour,” the voiceover in the clip says.
Eddie Redmayne, who portrayed Newt Scamander in the Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, also will reprise his role for the Universal Epic Universe ride, EW previously exclusively reported.
Per the ride’s description, guests will travel by Métro-Floo from Paris to the British Ministry of Magicwhere Dolores Umbridge is about to stand trial. “Board a lift and join Harry, Ron, and Hermione as you journey deep into the Ministry’s many departments.
Staunton is currently starring in Dominic Cooke’s revival of Hello, Dolly! at the London Palladium.
