My latest Bad Review is Fast and Furious 9, it’s also my winner for the category of “we could care less.” There is nothing regarding the 9th installment of the Fast and the furious series that screams, rush to the theater and see it. After 9 installments, how more ridiculous can you get and at what point do these just become Michael Bay films. Now we won’t spoil anything for you, the trailer pretty much already does that anyway. You already know that Dom has some long lost brother played by John Cena and he’s a bad guy. You already pretty much know that there’s some kind of weird family drama and why wouldn’t there be when your main character is constantly telling you that he doesn’t have friends, he has family. You already know that you’re going to get high-speed car chases. And you already know that you’re going to have to suspend disbelief that the characters from the first movie who hijacked truck parts and did street racing are somehow now international spies and can do all things that Tom Cruise can do in a Mission Impossible movie.
At some point I feel like these two movie franchises have to converge and make just one big super high octane, adrenaline fueled movie that blows our socks off in a movie theater, but if that happens that will be the end of action movies because nothing will ever be able to top what we see. But if there’s one thing that I can say about the latest Fast and the Furious movie, damn the story, some how they seen to away the top themselves with action, you know, just like a mission impossible movie! There isn’t anything in this movie that you haven’t seen before except the addition of new characters and somehow we bring a character back from the dead, not really, we won’t spoil that story, but again still kind of ridiculous! It’s almost like a soap opera, but with fast cars! Honestly this movie is like a 2 because you’ve seen this movie the past four or five times in this series, but we give it two extra points because Charlize Theron is in it and she’s the hottest thing in the movie. Now if you choose to see this movie in a theater, do it at one that servs alcohol because it is the perfect movie for day drinking in a movie theater and that’s something that we have truly missed in the last year!
