Instead of entering the world of videogame Tron, characters from the videogame will visit planet Earth in the next installment of the film franchise, Tron: Ares.
The latest updates on the film arrived at Disney’s D23 convention in 2024, and there’s still about a year to go before viewers can expect to see it in theaters.

Who is in the cast of Tron: Ares?
Jared Leto will star as highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who enters the real world from the digital world on a dangerous mission, marking humankinds first encounter with an Artificial Intelligence being. Evan Peters will portray villain Julian Dillinger.
Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Hasan Minhaj and Gillian Anderson, Sarah Desjardins round out the cast for the new film.
Jeff Bridges, who starred in Tron: Legacy (2010) and the original film Tron(1982), will return for the third installment in the franchise.

Joachim Rønning directed the threequel film, as Deadline first exclusively reported with the project’s early development.
The script was written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Leto, Emma Ludbrook and Steven Lisberger will produce alongside executive producer Russell Allen.
Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor’s industrial indie rock group, will score the threequel film. The originally one-man group formed by Reznor in the late 1980’s has seen a rotation of partners, most recently frequent collaborator Atticus Ross. The pair are responsible for the score of Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, and they have also worked on The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network and Mank with David Fincher. The pair also recently contributed to Season 3 of The Bear. Daft Punk contributed the score of Tron: Legacy (2010).
Is there a trailer for Tron: Ares?
Not yet. Disney unveiled first footage at the 2024 D23 Expo in August. The first photo was unveiled Feb. 29, 2024.
