Image Comics titles have taken the lead this award season with multiple nominations across prestigious book awards and one notable win.
All-Negro Comics—edited by Chris Robinson and featuring the work of Orrin C. Evans, among others— recently caused a stir with a 2026 Children & Youth Literary Award win. This new edition of All-Negro Comics is the first comic ever created by African Americans, for African Americans and has previously won an Eisner Award.
Jeff Lemire’s highly lauded standalone graphic novel snagged another accolade with its 2025 Nebula Award nomination in the “Best Comic” category last month. This recognition comes on the heels of three starred reviews from Library Journal, Booklist, and ShelfAwareness as well as ongoing critical acclaim.
Kieron Gillen and Caspar Wijngaard’s The Power Fantasy was recognized with a 2026 Hugo Award nomination in the “Best Graphic Story or Comic” category. The series was amongst the top selling launches of last year and went on to make regular appearances on Best of Year lists.
Ranking on the American Library Association’s esteemed lists this year, both Feral, Vol. 1 and Feral, Vol. 2 by Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner received Honors nods on the “2025 Outstanding Comics Award for Young Adults” list while James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds’ The Department of Truth Vol. 1-6 were all Honors selections on the “Outstanding Comics Award – Adult” list in the Series category. Both series have been two of the hottest ongoing series since their launches, boasting multiple sell-outs, multiple reprints, and non-stop reorder activity.
