A major step forward for the game: Funcom introduces a full single-player mode, deep gameplay customization, the final part of the story, and more on all platforms, as Dune: Awakening finally lands on XBOX and PlayStation
At the same time, Funcom launched one of the most important updates yet to the game on PC. The console version includes today’s update, as well as every addition, enhancement, and improvement introduced over the past year. Dune: Awakening launched on PC in June last year and saw 189,000 concurrent players on Steam and quickly became the fastest-selling Funcom to date as well as one of the biggest releases on Steam in 2025.
To celebrate the launch of the new update, Dune: Awakening is now available at a 50% discount on Steam, our deepest one yet, lasting until October 8th.

Bigger, better… what’s new?
Today’s PC update and console release is the culmination of a year of hard work the Dune: Awakening team has put into expanding, enhancing, and improving the game.
What’s new today:
- A full single-player mode. The entire game, all the content, and all the features.
- Deep gameplay customization, allowing you to tweak everything from harvesting rates to death penalties to experience gain. Play it how you want, at your pace.
- Hours of more story content that brings the epic conclusion to Book One of the game’s immersive and cinematic Dune story
- Countless improvements and enhancements, from performance to gameplay
But that’s just the latest. Today’s update should be seen in light of the hundreds of additions and enhancements made to the game over the past 15 months, all available from day one on PlayStation® 5 and XBOX. This includes:
- PvP is now completely optional, the entire game can be played PvE
- The Deep Desert endgame experience has both a PvE and a PvP instance, with the latter providing greater risk, but also greater rewards
- You don’t have to lose things anymore: save your base, recover your vehicles, taxes are gone, death penalty reduced, and more
- A completely rebuilt endgame focusing on missions and your rise through the ranks of the Atreides or the Harkonnen
- New maps, dungeons, weapons, dynamic encounters, and more
- New progression systems: Augmentations and Specializations
- Refined action gameplay and combat, especially melee
- Enhanced performance, thanks to console-driven optimization

Head Start on PlayStation 5 and XBOX, 50% off on Steam
Dune: Awakening is in Head Start on PlayStation 5 and XBOX until the official release on September 22nd. Anyone who has bought Deluxe or Ultimate has got access. Purchase either of these editions and get started on your Arrakis adventure right now.
Pre-ordering also grants the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, a home for the legendary desert mouse that you can place inside your own base.
For PC gamers, Dune: Awakening is now available at 50% off, the highest ever discount for the game.
Dune: Awakening is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, XBOX Series X|S, Windows Store, and is fully XBOX Play Anywhere enabled. That means progression will carry over whether you’re playing it on an XBOX console, a Windows PC, a ROG XBOX Ally, or through XBOX Cloud Gaming. Cross-play is confirmed to arrive post-launch.
The game will also be available with XBOX Game Pass starting September 22nd, but members can get Deluxe or Ultimate at 20% off if they want to start early.
Dune: Awakening offers two modes on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and XBOX Series X: Performance (60fps, Dynamic 4K) and Quality (30fps, Dynamic 4K). The PlayStation 5 Pro and XBOX Series X offers a higher native resolution and enhanced visuals in Quality Mode. The game’s UI and controls have also been fully adapted to console, and you will find haptics being used to its fullest as the deadly rumble of the sandworm kicks in.
Physical edition available in retail and online
A physical PlayStation 5 edition of Dune: Awakening is also now available (and, yes, it includes a disc). The game is being distributed by Bandai Namco Entertainment in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, by Solutions 2 GO in the Americas, and by Spike Chunsoft in Japan. The Japan release date is set to October 29th.
