“A very well-executed comic book, one that I think is very much worth reading even if you don’t think casinos are interesting, don’t have a brother, and think superpowers are a bit hokey.” —The Comics Beat
“A brotherly love/hate vibing crime-caper hit up with a side of slapstick-comedy on the neon soaked streets of Seoul.” —AIPT
PORTLAND, Ore. 08/12/2026 — Eisner Award winning writer Derek Kirk Kim (The Last Mermaid, Same Difference) and rising star artist Jacob Perez (Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) team up for a mind-bending crime caper in the upcoming trade paperback, Royals. This standalone graphic novel is slated to hit shelves this Fall from Image Comics.
Set in the shadowy back alleys of Seoul, South Korea, Royals follows twin brothers Paul and Castor who have crafted the perfect poker hustle using their uncanny telepathic connection. Perfect, that is, until they’re caught red-handed by the most ruthless criminal syndicate in Seoul. To pay them back, the brothers must pull off a daring heist and use their gift for something bigger than themselves for the first time in their lives…but only if they don’t wind up killing each other first!
Kim provided further detail and insight into the Royals story in an in-depth interview with Image Comics’ website.
The Royals trade paperback (ISBN: 9781534389045) will collect the entirety of the series, Royals issues #1-6, and be available at local comic book shops on Wednesday, November 11 and independent bookstores, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones on Tuesday, December 8.
Royals will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Google Play, Apple’s iBooks, Barnes & Noble’s Nook, Scribd’s Everand, Kobo, Overdrive, Hoopla, Sweet app, Comic Plus, and more.
