HBO OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES COLIN FARRELL AND VINCE VAUGHN FOR TRUE DETECTIVE: SEASON 2: from ign.com

Over the weekend, Colin Farrell revealed that he would be starring in True Detective: Season 2, with rumors circulating that Vince Vaughn could join him. Today, HBO confirmed Farrell and Vaughn’s involvement and gave official descriptions for their characters.

As previously reported, Season 2 follows three police officers and a career criminal as they navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. In this, Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.” Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”

The premium network also revealed that The Fast and the Furious series directorJustin Lin will direct the first two episodes.

Production on the eight-episode season will begin later this fall in California. Stay tuned for more casting announcements as they come our way.
