With so much hype and pressure placed on this series it will be interesting to see how long it lasts.  I know there are a lot of doubters and disappointment over the fact that this is a show about Gotham as Batman knew it when he was a child—so if you were hoping for some Batman action you will probably be disappointed.  More than anything it seems like this series will focus on Jim Gordan and his background story while including some of the more notorious villains origin stories from Gotham and a little of Bruce Wayne as a child.

        I thought the premiere was good, and like the darkness of the series so far and some of the new characters.  It does not appear to be a real “super hero” story at this point but does hold some appeal as a detective series.  I am not sure where exactly they can go with the plot or how long before the novelty wears off and they can no longer present new, good material but for me the premiere was decent.  I will hope that it lives up to its hype and that hopefully, like Arrow and other such Superhero origin shows, the writers find something new and inventive to captivate the audience.
