Bones Season Finale: Full of Surprises by Allison Costa

We haven’t yet talked about the series “Bones”, and it is not one we regularly critique, but this season’s finale was good enough that I figured it was worth mentioning.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with this series it is similar in some aspects to “Castle” in the essence that it is about a crime-fighting couple who started out years ago with sexual tension and a basis for a friendship and then over the years developed into a couple and are now married and have a child.  The main character “Bones”, or Temperence Brennan is one of the top forensic anthropologists in the world, who works for the Jeffersonian Institute and solves murders through analyzing bones, while her partner/husband Sealy Booth is an FBI agent who works on the same cases and together they solve murders and killings that no one else has been able to solve.

Like “Castle,” this season has had some amazing episodes as well as some that were more lack-luster.  The best episodes in my opinion have been those that related to the serial killer Palant, and then of course the “ghost-killer”.  The season finale was kind of a shock and surprise because out of nowhere after solving the huge ghost-killer case, the Jeffersonian gang, along with Booth, uncovers a conspiracy in relation with the ghost-killer that goes all the way up to the highest echelon of the FBI.

The episode ends with Booth not only being shot and in the hospital but waking to find himself chained to the hospital bed accused of treason, while Brennan is taken from his room screaming, all the while no one believing them that there is a traitor within the FBI.  Truthfully I got a little lost in the story details in how it all worked out that they uncovered this conspiracy, but the action and dramatic events of the last part of the show definitely woke up the audience as to what might be uncovered in the next season.  With the conclusion of Palant and the ghost-killer this past season it was hard to know where “Bones” would go from here, and clearly the writers decided they needed to change some things up and throw a curve ball in the last episode.  Can’t wait to see what next season will reveal!
