What Movies Should You Watch This Weekend! by Marcus Blake

In case you’re going to the movies this weekend and you’re wondering what to see, I have two recommendations from That Nerd Show.  The first choice isn it obvious choice because after all we are nerds and we love superhero movies.

Why should you go see The Amazing Spiderman 2?  The simple choice is because it’s a fun film, it may not be the best superhero movie and you may be one of those that has some serious complaints about the rebooted Spider-Man movies and Andrew Garfield play and Peter Parker, but the fact is this is not a terrible superhero move and neither was the first.  The Amazing Spiderman 2 is a darker film then than first one and certainly a lot darker than the Tobey Maguire Spiderman movies, which is a good thing.  Yes, there’s a lot of villains in this film, but it works and the action scenes are fantastic.  Probably the best part of the film is the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone with all the sarcastic and witty banter between them.  Plus I do have to say that Dane DeHaan’s version of the green goblin is a lot better than James Franco’s version.  All in all this is a fun and exciting superhero movie, and certainly worth the movie ticket especially if you’re a fan of Spiderman. Our final grade at that nerd show is an 8- Good Movie!

The second movie you should see this week is called Locke with Tom Hardy.  If you are looking for movie with great performances and absolutely love Tom hardy then check this film out.  This is Steven Knight’s brilliant film but a man whose life is turned upside down in his attempt to resolve everything in the course of 90 minutes while driving.  Steven knight wrote such brilliant films as Eastern Promises and Redemption.  This film’s true strength comes from Tom Hardy’s wonderful performance.  It is a hauntingly beautiful picture showing us how much are our lives can truly unravel and how helpless we can be when we cannot deal with the people we heard in person only listen to their voices on the telephone.  It’s an artistic film and an interesting showcase of how life is constantly in motion using driving a car as the metaphor will also proving how helpless we can be with only a telephone has our contact with the people around us.  This is what I got out of the film after getting to see a preview at the Dallas international film festival and I do think that moviegoers should keep in mind that this movie is not pure entertainment, but just like films such as Vanilla Sky, the movie Locke forces is to examine the world around us the consequences of our actions while giving moviegoers a worthy discussion after words.  And for film students, this film is a shining example of what you can do with one great actor to be the driving force of restore.  This film is worth checking out and you won’t have to sit for 2 hours being bored.  For an artistic filmmaking it gets right to the point in 85 minutes.  Our final Grade for the film is an 8 – Good
