Crouching Tiger Sequel Is a Go: from ign.com

The sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will reportedly start shooting later this year in New Zealand and China.

According to Variety, most of the principal photography will happen at Auckland Film Studios, with only a couple of weeks of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny being shot in China. Director Yuen Woo-ping, who was the action choreographer of the first film, is expected to helm the project, with Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh (also returning) set to star.

Originally, the Crouching Tiger sequel was expected to film last spring, but the Weinstein Co. changed plans so that shooting would happen this year. “I loved Ang Lee’s film,” producer Harvey Weinstein said at the time. “I thought it was a master class in directing, but I know we are in fantastic hands with Yuen Woo-ping directing the second installment.”

John Fusco is handling the script, which is reportedly based on Iron Knight, Silver Vase, the fifth book in the Crane-Iron Pentalogy by Wang Dulu. There also are rumorsof Ziyi Zhang returning for the sequel, though nothing about her casting has been confirmed.
